De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao is Officially On

After weeks of speculation, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions today announced the officially signing of De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao which will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6.  Speaking in a conference call earlier today with members of the media, Schaefer and Bob Arum of Top Rank confirmed that the deal had been signed.  De La Hoya talked about the fight being personal and wanting to avenge Mexico for the string of victories that Manny Pacquiao holds over great Mexican fighters.

 

Pacquiao for his part feels confident that he can beat De La Hoya and even went as far as to say that he believes the outcome will be similar to his victory over David Diaz in June.

 

Oscar also mentioned that he doesn't want his impending retirement to be the focus of the fight so he has momentarily stalled his retirement decision until after the fight.

 

The fight will be televised on HBO PPV and co-promoted by Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions.
